"We are actively carrying out the work on the second stage of the automatic gate control system and we are striving to complete it on time. At the beginning of this month, we have already completed the first part of the project and have successfully launched the Vehicle Pre-registration System (VPS) at the container terminal," says Vaidotas Šileika, the manager of our terminal.

 

The second phase of the project will include the following key works:

• installation of identification and recognition portals for trucks and containers on entry and exit,

• lighting systems,

• security and object identification cameras,

• installation of laser scanners and software,

• installation of a customer self-service area, etc.

 

"It is important to note that this will be the first fully automated access to the territory of the container terminal implemented in the Port of Klaipėda. Therefore, we are particularly pleased to have the opportunity to work on this project, where we will apply the latest technologies and our knowledge accumulated over almost 18 years of working in the field of container terminal automation," says Tomas Girdzevičius, the founder of our partner Autepra, UAB, about the unique project.

 

Phase I involved the development of an information technology model and the application of the necessary digitised solutions to schedule vehicle arrival times and manage the flow of goods in and out.

 

The total value of the automated gate system project is estimated at more than EUR 1 million and is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2024.
