We are the first company operating in Klaipėda Seaport to sign a cooperation agreement with the Lithuanian Centre for Non-formal Education of youth for a partnership in organising professional days at the terminals and training young people in specific professions.

 

As Vaidotas Šileika, our terminal manager, says, the aim is to introduce young people to the specifics of the terminal's operations and the professions available there, in other words, to introduce them to the "world of work" in which we operate. Everyone's life is linked to important choices: learning, studying, professional activity, work or lifestyle. All these choices are interlinked, but the choice of a profession is one of the most important. That is why we will actively contribute to this cooperation.

 

According to V.Šileika, there are professions in the KKT that are constantly in need of additional staff, such as dockers and mascots. Therefore, we would like to introduce the latter professions in particular, and for this purpose we will be organising observations of work activities, practical activities, discussion of the experience gained and other activities. 

 

The cooperation agreement will run until the end of August next year. This is not the only cooperation with an educational institution; we are also actively cooperating with Klaipėda University, the Lithuanian school of Maritime sciences and Klaipėda State University of applied sciences.
