We have taken delivery of a 260 m container ship

This is the largest vessel arrival in the history of the container terminal!

Container ship "Alexander Bay", owned by the global shipping line Maersk, is 260 metres long.

We have successfully moored the ship and started loading operations. This is the first time a ship of this size has arrived in the Malkų įlankos channel.

"With the completion of all the necessary dredging works in the Malkų įlankos channel and the reconstruction of our container terminal quay, we are now able to accommodate and service increasingly larger vessels. Today, a historic event took place - the largest ship ever to dock at our quay. We thank the container shipping line Maersk for their long-standing partnership and for the confidence that our terminal can accommodate and service ever larger ships," says Vaidotas Šileika, Director of our company.

One of the main technical parameters required for our berths to be able to accommodate PostPanamax vessels was the depth, which is currently 14 metres.

Vessel details:

  • 260 m long, 32.3 m wide;

  • maximum draught of 12,6 m;

  • capacity: 4253 TEU.
