We have purchased new handling equipment - four harbour tugs - for a total investment of almost €800,000.                           

 

"We are constantly striving to organise our terminal operations as efficiently as possible and to invest in sustainable solutions, which is why the consistent development of our fleet is one of the company's goals," says Vaidotas Šileika, Managing Director of our terminal, about the acquisition of the new equipment.

 

According to Mr Šileika, the acquisition of new handling equipment will help the terminal to ensure even more efficient handling processes. "The new tugboats are designed specifically for the Ro-Ro terminal and will be used for ferry handling operations," says the CEO. 

 

According to Mr Šileika, it is important to note that from the end of April a new TT-Line ferry service to Karslhamn will start from our terminal. With the new equipment, we are confident that we will be able to properly handle the cargo flows.

 

The harbour trucks were ordered a year ago and manufactured by Terberg in the Netherlands. They comply with the EURO 6 standard and are equipped with modern control technology and a more fuel-efficient system with lower emissions. "It is important to us that our employees work with new, modern and environmentally friendly machinery, and we are constantly investing heavily to achieve this. The new port trucks are ergonomically designed, so employees feel comfortable in their cabins and they are easy to drive," says Šileika.

 

The 4 new tugboats have been added to the fleet of 27 tugboats that have been used so far in the cargo handling processes. 

 

KKT belongs to the Klaipėda Terminal Group, which unites companies providing cargo handling, logistics, freight forwarding and ship agency services. KKT has invested EUR 11 million in the acquisition of cargo handling equipment in 2022.
