In spite of the turbulences in global logistics and disruption of the established supply chains the world suffered from in 2021, the year turned out quite successful for KCT terminals. Cargo throughput grew about 2% compared to 2020, the terminals served 13% more vessels. Combined volume of both KCT terminals amounted to 5.9M tons.

Container turnover was 1.3% lower than in 2020, KCT reloaded 428 065 TEU, which constitutes 63% of all container throughput in the port of Klaipeda. The drop in containerized cargo was compensated by 13% growth of general cargo volumes reaching 698.5K tonnes including 510 K t of bulk by the end of 2021. Stevedoring of oversized and project cargo totalled to 70.5K tons, a record volume exceeding previous year‘s digits more than three times.

Volumes of ro-ro cargo doubled during 2021 amounting to 722.4K tons and surpassing general cargo. Input of ro-ro in general KCT throughput has become established as a significant segment with very good prospects for further growth in the coming years.
