We are testing the capabilities of an electric port tractor

At our Container Terminal, we are testing an electric port tractor, which was provided to us for real-world use by our long-standing partner Alwark.

"Decisions on investments in green technology at the terminal are not based on fancy technical descriptions, but on how the technology actually works – how long it can operate without recharging, how powerful it is, and how it is evaluated by the people who work with it every day," says Vaidotas Šileika, the CEO of our terminal.

We have recorded that the electric tractor being tested can operate for up to 9 hours without recharging. Romualdas Ušinskas, a dock worker and mechanic who works with it, notes a very clear difference between diesel and electric tractors:

  • more power;

  • quiet operation;

  • greater efficiency.

Such tests allow us to responsibly evaluate technological changes in the cargo handling segment. We are not rushing to conclusions – we are gathering experience, comparing results, and only then deciding what technology may become part of our daily work in the future.
