Launch of a new train
New container train from Klaipeda to Kiev will boost transit cargo flows
An official ceremony on June 9 marked opening of a new railway route between Klaipeda and Kiev. It is a joint project of Lithuanian, Belorussian and Ukrainian railways aiming at better transport connection between the countries. It will speed up container deliveries from Klaipeda to Kiev from 5 – 7 days to 1.5 days. The idea is to extend the route to Odessa in the future thus creating a new logistics link between the Baltic and the Black seas.
Containerships vessels are served at KCT container terminal. It is expected that more convenient connection with Ukraine will boost transit cargo flows through the port of Klaipeda.
